Each night in all its splendor
Ends far too soon
Two lovers part as the sun shines in
Upon the mattress on which they lay
He looks into her eyes, tear-stained, to say,
"The loveliest nights bring the loneliest days"
Each blessed moment in the throes of passion
Are each their own in unique fashion
Never do they feel so alive
Than in a night filled with eachother's cries
But they must part come the cruel sun's rays
For the most wondrous nights yield the dreariest days;
He holds her close, she holds him tight
As though it could bring eternal night
In fear, together, they are one
Fearing the coming of the morning sun
Soon they must be parting ways
The greatest nights make for empty days.

btw, thank you. This is one of my best works, IMHO. I'm very proud of it.
